After much hard work, judging day has arrived for Melton In Bloom this friday! From 2.30pm Chair of Melton In Bloom Margaret Pearson will be taking the judges round Melton Mowbray and showing of this years flower displays to the theme of "Local Roots," Highlights include, "planting the town red" on Nottingham Street, M...elton Country Parks, Sensory Garden and New Climbing Forest and King Streets Medieval Bed. Judging will end at 5.30pm and results will be announced in September.

Melton in Bloom, supported by the MTCP, scooped a Silver Gilt Award, Silver Award and a Judges Special Award in the East Midlands in Bloom competition in 2009.   The theme this year, is based on the 'Local Roots'  theme which is a special award given by E.M.I.B. this year, to encourage activities and links between unique local history and cultural diversity within their community  The theme will include “Planting the Town Red” and the town centre baskets and planters will be themed in colours of reds/oranges, in keeping with this theme.

 

Retail Hanging Basket Scheme

Town centre businesses can join the hanging basket scheme, to support the East Midlands in Bloom competition.  For just £50, baskets will be installed, watered and maintained from Spring to Autumn.  To join, please complete the enclosed form or contact the TCM team for further details.

Melton in Bloom now also has a dedicated group of volunteers from the church, helping to look after the church borders and fund raise towards the rest of the planting around the church.  The Melton in Bloom team are also working alongside the Melton Country Park Volunteers to develop a sensory garden, in the Country Park.  Works at the bottom of the Oak Tree Avenue are also progressing well.
